Founded by Ashley Skaff, the Outsider Library is a small library with a focus on LGBTQ authors and subjects. Ashley drew her inspiration from the S.E. Hinton book, The Outsiders, about a young boy struggling with right and wrong in a small town that deems him an “other”. Ashley and I discussed a multitude of different options for this logo and I’m so happy with how it ended up. The rainbow-colored books are a subtle hint to the library’s focus, while the stack of different sized books arranged to be not vertically centered is a commentary on how even though we’re all different, we’re all part of the same whole of humanity.
